Although he comes across as a gentle, well-mannered fellow, Karmal's tail, sharp teeth and lack of pupils betray a different nature. He is, as he reluctantly explains, something of a 'half-demon'.
Only those closest to him know anything about his history, and that knowledge doesn't amount to more than: He has a 'demon' father, and a Therrassian for a mother. Wisely, his friends leave it at that.
Karmal is intimately familiar with the most obscure of etiquette's, and is likely to know how to act according to any foreign cultures he might encounter. Beside his apparent fascination with culture, religion and tradition, he is fond of learning about the history behind things.
The self-proclaimed 'half-demon' has strong feelings for Nastasia, but to this day has not found the courage to actually do something about it.
