Magecraft
From Vreakerz Wiki
Magecraft, also known as spellcasting/wizardry, refers to the theory and practice of casting spells. It is used to refer to the wide range of methods in which spells can be cast. It therefor in itself in no way the end-all-be-all of casting of spells, but more a term to refer to a complete field.
Those who practice magecraft are commonly known as Mages or Wizards, although different methods of spellcasting define different titles. For instance: the word spellcasters can also be used, and some methods refer to Mages as Shamans
Methods of Magecraft
Academic Magecraft
This method works via a system of schools and a large, well-defined structure of spells. Spells mostly have names descriptive of their effect, and this effect determines under which school it is categorized. The spell that brings a ball of fire into being for instance, is called 'fireball' and it is an offensive spell listed under the school of Evocation. The Zech'kahdon Institute of Magecraft mainly teaches this method. To name a few of the schools:
- Transmutation - The manipulation of matter, creation of material from sources.
- Illusion - The creation of fake or semi-real effects
- Conjuration - The transportation of any items, creatures or any form of matter.
- Evocation - Purely offensive spells
- Necromancy - The manipulation of life and death, reviled and almost never taught.
